NEWCASTLE ACCOMMODATION.

Newcastle. Ain't just coal and steel. It's got the country's biggest collection of creative kindred spirits, and is well worth the pilgrimage no matter where in the country you call home.

We'll be releasing details of travel plans and subsidies for our guests closer to the festival, but for now, in line with our policy of attempting to create a carbon-neutral festival, know that you'll get the best value (and the biggest subsidy!) if you choose to car-pool rather than fly. Obviously that isn't an option if you're coming from northern W.A., but for you east-coasters, think about how much fun a day or two road-tripping and getting yourselves hyped is going to be.

In the meantime, here's some extraordinarily banal information from last year's TINA site about how to get here!

How to get here intact:

On foot: The Civic precinct is Festival central - all venues in walking distance of the Festival Club, 5 Auckland Street, Newcastle.

Over tracks: CityRail Intercity trains - every hour from Sydney, alight at Civic Station. Countrylink from around the country, alight at Broadmeadow & get a connecting train to Civic Station.

In the sky: Discount carriers have flights to Williamstown Airport daily. Public transport available from the airport into the city centre (Getting to and from the airport)

Road bound vehicle: 2 1/2 hrs north of Sydney on the Pacific Highway
